WE don't need an Iraqi war to have higher oil prices--only collusion... I have ignored this political thing for 2 yrs now. Because of my age, I can offer something to the legislators who are thinking of making more of Alaska available to hole diggers [and oil extractors]. On the one hand, the area sought for drilling is in an area that 99.995% of the worlds population will never visit; like Siberia above Mongolia. Desolate, barely life-sustaining terrain. It is attractive if you consider watching some deer or caribu trod over it annually, thrilling. A few flowers withstand the cold, too. About 30 yrs ago, another [?] oil company sought to do the same thing and created a huge pipeline from the drilling area down to the Pacific Ocean to have its oil loaded upon tanker ships headed to the San Francisco Bay Area to get refined AND DISTRIBUTED to national tanker trucks there and thus, provide more inexpensive oil and gas to Californians. I was a graduate student then, and along with 40,000,000 other Californians--so very excited-- waiting for that first Alaskan gallon of cheap gas. Part of the pipeline sprung a leak. MORE suspense. THEN pumps wouldnt pump the oil. Then permafrost was in the news. A few more days, a few more days and a few more days and we would all bask in this new source of more cheap oil. I think the last story on that oil was on a Friday and on the following Monday, nothing. No news. No story. No tanker. JUST like a New Mexico alien landing storylots of news and then, zilch! Days went by, no story, weeks went by, months went by. No story. What did occur was perhaps the best kept secret in the world for we outsiders [outside the oil company board rooms]. What HAD happened is the same thing that will occur if this new Alaskan drilling spot is accepted by Bushy. NOTHING for Americans. ONLY for Asia and the oil barons and their stockholders. What occurred almost 30 years ago is that the oil went down the pipeline and to the tankers. On the way, several Asian oil buyers met the oil owners [WHO AMERICA THOUGHT WAS THEMSELVES] and agreed that all of the oil should by-pass California and go directly to Japan. In the mean time, to appease [as much as possible] the thirst Californians had for oil, the government of Mexico made hasty agreements with the US governmentour custodians of Alaskan oil-- that for every barrel that was extracted from Alaska, the Americans bought a barrel of Mexico crudy crude, also known as Dirty oil. At a huge profit for the Mexicans. If these new Alaskan holes are dug, all of this oil that is AMERICAN PROPERTY will go to Asia and not America!! And the gas pump will not drop one penny in price. |
